What Uber and Lyft Drivers Want
Although rideshare apps and other “gig economy” jobs are often billed as ways for workers to make extra cash in their spare time, that hasn’t been the case for many.
Last week ridehsare drivers across the country staged a 24-hour strike against their companies, Uber and Lyft. In Los Angeles they focused their protest at LAX, where they urged other drivers working the airport to join the walkout. The action’s organizers, Rideshare Drivers United, said drivers were seeking a minimum hourly pay rate that would up to about $17 after expenses. See Joe Rihn’s report.
