(Labor 411, the group dedicated to promoting products and services that carry the union label, offers a couple of spooky recipes for Halloween treats that are reposted below.)

According to a recent survey, more Americans than ever will be getting in the Halloween spirit this year. Halloween has now become one of the fastest growing and most widely loved holidays in America. We here at Labor 411 love Halloween because it’s all about the candy — and so much of it is union made! You can get a complete list of union-made candy by clicking here.

Sometimes buying union candy can be confusing, mostly to do with what we call “bridge companies,” which can make some of their products both in the U.S. and out of the country. So if a company is listed in our directory but you’ve heard they make candy out of the country, just check the label. The label will say if the candy was made somewhere other than the U.S.

We dare you to try these creepy, squiggly, Halloween-tastic union recipes below. We have one for kids and one for adults made with all-union products!

For Kids: Worms in Dirt

This Halloween, use Trolli gummy worms to make delicious union dirt cups for the kids—we guarantee that many adults will be in on this delicious treat too!

Here’s what you’ll need:
1. Trolli gummy worms/”Squiggles”
2. Oreos
3. Pudding- Royal Brand Chocolate Pudding

Directions:
Make the pudding according to the directions on the package, then set aside. For the “dirt” topping, place Oreos into a Ziploc bag and crumble, using a rolling pin. To assemble the dirt cups, alternate layers of pudding and crushed Oreos as desired – garnish with Trolli worms on top!

For Adults (21 and over): Halloween Rummy Worms

Hang on to some of those creepy crawly gummies to make Rummy Worms! Don’t let the kids have all the fun…These rum-soaked gummy worms are a party favorite and sure to produce azombie or two.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Trolli gummy worms/“Squiggles”
  2. Bacardi Rum

Directions:
Place the gummy worms into a bowl and pour enough rum over the gummies to completely immerse and cover them. Many sources suggest you place them for 3-4 days in the fridge, but we left them sitting out on the countertop for 5-8 hours and they were ready! When done, your Rummy Worms should still be squishy but not liquefied.

As adorable and harmless as they may look, be forewarned that they are strong. We advise you to eat your Rummy Worms responsibly. Have a happy and safe union Halloween from the Labor 411 team!
